Ladue has advanced to the Midwest Field Hockey Tournament final four for the first time in school history.
Carter Newton’s goal off a penalty corner with no time left on the clock lifted the Rams to a 1-0 victory over host Ursuline on Monday.

It was the second consecutive thrilling playoff victory for Ladue, which defeated Clayton on a goal 14 seconds into overtime in a first-round game on Saturday.

“That’s rather exciting,” Ladue coach Barb Dwyer said.  “It kind of gets your heart going.”

Ladue, the fifth seed, will meet top-seeded St. Joseph’s in a semifinal game Thurday at St. Joseph’s at 3:30 p.m.

“It’s got to give the kids confidence in their abilities to score at the end,” Dwyer said.  “We are really excited to be in the final four.”
