Hahn, Nowak to step away from coaching

Francis Howell North athletic director Mike Janes confirmed Friday that Francis Howell North girls basketball coach Dawn Marie Hahn and boys soccer coach Vince Nowak have resigned from their positions. Janes said he start searching for Nowak and Hahn’s replacements immediately.

Hahn has been the girls basketball coach at Howell North for eight years, most recently to a 13-13 mark this season.

“Dawn was a very good role model for our students and will be missed and indicated she might want to be part of the program in some way again,” Janes told St. Charles Journals sports editor Russ Korando this morning.

Nowak has been at the school since its inception 25 years ago, has a 408-179-63 record, guided his teams to 15 district titles and second-place state finishes in 1994 and 2000.

“Vince has done a great job of promoting that program and his staff is ready to take over,” Janes said. “I’m very confident we have someone on staff ready to take over.”

There will be a story on the retirements in an upcoming St. Charles Journal issue.
