BREESE _ Just when it looked like the Freeburg volleyball team was about to make a hard run at Mater Dei Thursday night, the Knights had the right answer in the form of Brooke Schulte.

In 2008, the Pirates volleyball team ignited the community in the valley, storming through the IHSA Class A postseason field before falling in the sectional tournament.

Up until now, she has been known around Gibault only in the outdoors.

Waterloo cruised through the 2009 regular season slate, winning the Mississippi Valley Conference title and knocking off one opponent after another.

A familiar face will be back behind the bench of the Columbia volleyball team this season.
