Two early runs proved to be just enough for Francis Howell to advance through the first round of the Class 4 District 8 softball tournament.
The third-seeded Vikings survived a scare from Francis Howell North Wednesday and beat the Knights, 2-1, to set up a semifinal with tournament host and No. 1 seed Fort Zumwalt South.
